Don’t let Christmas message die

Yes, Virginia, there is a Jesus.

Many of us may stop to remember how the month of December was when we were growing up. The cities were robust with holiday spirit. There were Nativity scenes and caroling throughout the city.

The festivities were joined by schools, places of business, churches and local organizations. There were presents, cookies, cards and the giving of ourselves to come to the aid of others.

The churches and schools had plays that honored the baby in the manger of hay, telling of the three wise men and angels. They told of no room at the inn. Jesus was born in a stable. Even the animals showed reverence.

The world decorates and lights up a tree but doesn't believe what they can't see. Let the world reject the Christ story. But, leave us our freedom to give God the glory. Christians should stand up for Jesus and restore Christmas.

If we don't take a stand, the Christmas message may die. Bring back Nativity scenes. Let's say “Merry Christmas.” We as Christians are entitled to our freedom of speech, too.

Let's come together to restore old-fashioned values.
