Donations a pleasant surprise at garage sale
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 7, 2010 1:17 pm
After several years of not having a garage sale, we thought it was about time to have another. Included were four boxes of books that we had accumulated over the years.
Realistically, we didn't believe that the books would draw much interest, even if we priced the books at a quarter each. After some thought, we decided to offer the books free, but suggested that a donation to Camp Courageous be placed in a sealed box provided beside the book boxes. At the end of our three-day sale, almost two-thirds of the books remained, but what amazed us was that in the donation box there was a total of $46.55.
We have no way to personally thank these people because we don't know any of them personally - they just came to our garage sale. We hope that by reading this letter, they will realize our gratitude in their giving generously to Camp Courageous. The check is in the mail.
