Donald Trump lacks important attributes

To the editor:
The frustration and disappointment in our national leadership is understandable. However, there are indications that some Iowans intend to caucus for a candidate who claims to be conservative, but who, in describing his presidential goals (I will build a fence and make the Mexicans pay for it), appears to want the chance to be a better authoritarian than President Barack Obama.
Do we want to trust Donald Trump, a man who says outrageous things about policy, other people, and himself to lead the executive branch of our federal government? America needs a leader who inspires citizens to think and act with reason and compassion - a leader who knows, honors, and is committed to uphold the U.S. Constitution; a leader who talks to and about other people in our national and world communities with respect; and a leader who speaks with a voice of reason, rather than with emotion, name-calling, and a foul tongue.
As an ambassador to the rest of the world, our president should not have a 'I win and all others who disagree with me are losers” mentality, as this would set up international relations and domestic disasters.
Trump lacks the important attributes America desperately needs in a president. Caucus for a genuine conservative leader - three words that do not describe Trump.
