Donald Trump broke the law

Removing a President from office through impeachment process during the President's reelection campaign seems wrongheaded. However, this belief assumes a fair election. In the last election the chant 'Lock her up!” was based on an investigation which resulted in no criminal charges. The chant was used to great electoral effect. Any ongoing investigation into a political opponent is of great value as Trump has proved. Trump's undisputed actions in attempting to get Ukraine and China to start an investigation into the actions of Joe Biden was an act of illegal electioneering.
I am deeply disturbed by Republicans who are quick to pass laws to protect our elections from fraud but are deafening silent when the President commits illegal electioneering in public by seeking Ukrainian and Chinese help to reelected him. Fair elections are a requirement of our republic. Presidents who use the power of the presidency to influence an election in their favor have violated their public trust and are more damaging than a few fraudulent voters. People who enable such Presidents are dismantling our republic one broken norm and law at a time. The silence of Republicans is deafening when it's their 'bad guys trying to mess with the system.”
