Many times, there are attributes of a candidate running for office that cannot be found through research. I want to share my experience with Molly Donahue, the candidate for Linn County Supervisor District 3.
I had the honor of serving the City of Marion, as their fire chief from 2014 to 2022, and during that time our city experienced two of the greatest challenges in our history: The Derecho and the COVID pandemic. The health, safety and welfare of our citizens was the fire department’s top priority. Marion had never faced challenges of this magnitude.
Molly Donahue offered up any help she could give. She wanted to be personally involved and not just as a state official. She was a great asset and assisted with getting the resources our city needed.
I was surprised to see she was running for a local seat, rather than a seat with the state in which she has fought so hard to maintain home rule for our county and communities over the past few years. She told me that she wanted to be closer to the people she served on a daily basis and to have a more direct influence in finding solutions for any issues our county and towns may encounter. Her experience at the state level would enhance her ability to garner state resources and to lobby for our local needs.
Molly Donahue cares. Molly Donahue has the heart, experience and resources to help our county and communities to thrive.
