Do not hesitate to voice your concerns

To the editor:
Is the end close by?
First, local control is taken away from our school districts. Our leaders in Des Moines know better than our local school leaders what is best for our students. Second, our gas tax will rise with no serious looks at alternatives to a tax. Third, our Des Moines dictator decides that our public schools can handle being under funded while his office needs more money to ruin, sorry, I meant run, the state. Finally, our Linn County supervisors decide another raise for their pocketbooks is needed, even though they have just received a substantial increase to be 'full-time” positions.
How can we not take heed? Unless we become more aware and involved about the goings on of our politicians, we are all headed for a serious downfall. Please contact our leaders and voice your dissatisfaction with the present situations.
My fear is that if we do not take a stand, we will fall farther behind in education, tax ourselves to the poor house, lose what control we have with our school districts and allow Linn County supervisors to become the first in the state to reach the $150,000 mark. It will be too late to stop the onslaught if we wait any longer. Use your voice and be heard.
