Do Curby carts make sense for C.R.?

This might be a good time to think about Cedar Rapids' move to the large Curby carts, which will allow the city to pick up our recyclable items “untouched by human hands.” In order for the system to work, the carts must be located at curb or alley side at ground or curb-height level.
To use the Curbys, I have been told that we should place them in the driveway by the street or alley. No room there because of snow ridges left by snow plows? Then we will have to dig out a space in the snow ridge next to the street or alley so the Curby can sit at ground or curb-height level. And Curbys must be 3 feet apart. Up on the snow ridge is not acceptable. Think about it.
