Do citizens still want representative government?

Why would citizens, enjoying all the freedoms granted by a Constitution of the people, by the people, and for the people, want to be governed by a dictatorship based on principles currently under investigation, on many serious counts, in our highest courts? I can only hope that the wisdom of our founding fathers will prevail during the election, and we can continue to enjoy the personal freedoms granted by representative government.
