District should cash in on Polk’s success

While we understand a need to balance the budget, there are two ways to do it. Cut expenses and bring in revenue. Has the Cedar Rapids School District ever considered cashing in on the extraordinary success of Polk Elementary School? The staff thought outside the box and partnered with the community to create a culture of personal responsibility. Develop and market this system. Allow other schools to find their “Polk Potential.”
With 90 percent of the students receiving assistance, more tax dollars go into Polk than any other school. It would be irresponsible to squash the momentum that is being fostered.
