Des Moines baker should be commended
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 19, 2011 11:43 pm
There are some people who have attacked Victoria Childress of Des Moines for refusing to bake a cake for a gay female couple, labeling her a bigot and calling for a boycott of her business.
Well, as a business owner she has the right to refuse service to someone and as a Christian she has the First Amendment right to practice her faith without penalty.
Instead of condemning her, she should be commended, she has done the right thing.
Frankly, America would be better off if more did the right thing instead of giving in to what is hurting us. We could use more people like her.
