Democrats don’t get rid of their bad apples

A recent letter ended, “As we've seen, Republicans have a specific agenda: If something poses a threat, they take it out.” This is exactly backward. Witness Trent Lott, Tom DeLay, Newt Gingrich, Mark Foley and George Allen, all of whom were forced to resign from their elected seats.
Sarah Palin is constantly attacked. George Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove are still being attacked after eight years of constant attack. If it were the Republicans who were attacking, then a senator who was a leader in the KKK would no longer hold his seat.
Likewise, a senator who let a staffer suffocate in his car while he sobered up would have lost his seat. A president would have left his office after lying to a judge. A representative stopped for DUI would have lost his seat. The House and Senate leaders who frequently add amendments to bills that favor their families' businesses would no longer hold those seats.
Saul Alinsky wrote “Rules for Radicals” many years ago. It has become the playbook for community organizers and the left. Alinsky's 13th rule:“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” One almost has to admire how well the liberals execute rule 13.
