Creators of economic crisis still in power
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 8, 2011 8:24 am
I support the Occupy Wall Street movement because they are doing their best to bring attention to the Wall Street debacle that continues to haunt us. Many Wall Street executives were corrupted by money, but there is far more to the problem.
As citizens, we need to talk to each other and learn from the economic crisis of 2008. We need to know who the players were and if they are still in positions of power. We must ask if there are basic principles of right and wrong that hold true even in business. If “We the People” don't come up with answers to these and other questions and then press our representatives to take action, nothing will change. The same folks who promoted the 2008 crisis will create another one for us. I, for one, want real change that we can see and feel and live with.
I'll be joining with others at 7 p.m. Friday for a showing of “Inside Job” at CSPS. This film asks the critical questions that you and I need to find the answers to. I hope you'll come and be a part of that discussion.
