Create Sinclair display at History Center

The Sinclair smokestack is an item of nostalgia and historical significance for Cedar Rapids. Saving it will be an expensive project and future maintenance will be an ongoing process.
An alternative would be to create a Sinclair display for The Carl and Mary Koehler History Center.
Bricks could be salvaged from the existing smokestack to create a smaller version of it, along with pictures of the original plant, artifacts, memorabilia, newspaper articles, etc. This display would tell the story of meatpacking in Cedar Rapids, could be viewed indoors all year long without braving the elements and would eliminate the constant upkeep of an outdoor attraction.
This educational display would benefit Cedar Rapidians, as well as visitors to our city by providing an accessible way to learn about one more piece of our rich heritage.
