Cramer should be shown the door

Let me get this straight: You're giving Craig Lang thumbs up (on being reappointed to the Iowa Board of Regents) because he presided during “turbulent times,” with just passing notice of the extent to which he fostered and created turbulence? And you're endorsing Robert Cramer “with reservations”? (Gazette editorial, “The governor should get his picks,” April 5).
Next step for the Senate with Cramer? Confirm him “with reservations?” Doubtless doing so will limit his impact on the regents.
Not!
Issues of Cramer and our justice system are hardly matters of courtesy, and he should not be shown the “courtesy” of an endorsement “with reservations” rather, he should be shown the door. He has demonstrated that he is unsuited to public service.
If the governor was intended to get his picks when it comes to appointments, would the Constitution have a confirmation process? If the governor was elected to appoint, the Senate was elected to confirm, not to conform. These appointments and others initiated by the governor are joint appointments.
