CR Schools’ building deal stinks — and students suffer

Competition makes us do better in all aspects of life.
Apparently, the Cedar Rapids Community School Board doesn’t subscribe to this truism when deciding about the sale of Garfield Elementary School. Selling to a lower bidder, without going publicly and before legislation requiring otherwise, smells.
The district’s taxpayers are being deprived good financial judgment, a better education for students who on average can’t read, do math, or read cursive at respected levels.
