Reasons to rejoice!
1. The Gazette is on my step at 5:30 every morning.
2. I have been able to travel down First Avenue between 27th and 21st streets because of the wonderful work of the construction workers.
3. I can enjoy the symphony and the municipal band.
4. I can travel from 32nd Street to Peoria, Ill., to visit my son on wonderful miles of interstate highway (380, 80 and 74). (Yes, I may have to pay a gas tax to repair it).
5. I am part of a church, St. Paul's United Methodist, that provides neighborhood meals, a lemonade stand on hot days, sleeping quarters for more than 2,000 flood relief people and worship space for African American and Latino worship.
6. I am grateful for Medicare and my supplementary insurance that has paid for 13 surgeries in retirement.
7. I am glad that at 91 I can still drive, visit my aging friends and be glad I live in the Cedar Rapids/Marion metro area.
