CR budget windfall is taxpayers’ downfall

I received my tax bill and was greatly disappointed that Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell and the City Council chose to allow the mill levy increase on top of the jump in assessed value. I am one of those on a fixed income and not only did my property tax go up, it increased 3 percent more than the increase in the assessed value of my house.
I will be watching what happens to that huge budget windfall and will vote accordingly in the next election. The Cedar Rapids Community School District can thank the mayor and the city council for my hard no vote to the bond issue. There are limits to my income.
