County Recorder Office needs its own leader

I was an employee of Linn County for 12 years and worked in several offices before retiring about eight years ago.
My last job was in the Recorder's Office as a clerk, and I can tell you first hand that Joan McCalmant is the hardest-working supervisor in the county. She is dedicated to her position and works diligently to give the best possible customer service to the county taxpayers while keeping cost at a minimum. It is not unusual to see her car at the office on weekends so she can keep up with the mountainous paperwork that goes with that job.
To the gentleman who thinks he can run for that position, then fire himself and turn it over to county Auditor Joel Miller: He would be doing county residents a great injustice. The only other office that produces more revenue is the treasurer.
Also, why would we want to combine all this revenue going under one person's domain and leave it open to possible wrongdoing? It is good to have more than one person looking in on taxpayer dollars.
