Country has turned its back on the poor

To the editor:
We will not find solutions in Republicans or Democrats that perpetuate the same old tired promises and broken solutions.
Hillary Clinton is a disaster, a corporate lackey not a problem solver. The Republican field is downright scary and out of touch with people. We have a country out of balance, immorally ignoring the poor of this country, a system of economic hope and commerce built around overpaid sports figures, business figures and Hollywood icons. We give ourselves over to these people, our advertising tells us this is whom we worship or emulate and build life around. True journalism is dead.
Our roads are in disrepair. The needs in society are so acute for medical and dental help, for those with transportation or affordable housing needs, for affordable education and for recreation built around the poor kid down the block.
I am shocked at how fast this country has turned its back on the middle class and poor and lay down for these people running our government and culture and media with no intent other than to satisfy their own cause and pockets.
What solution do we have? It starts with a look at the ballot box and taking risks with those honest enough to tell you the truth and truly believe in public service. It starts with buying local and supporting charities locally and it starts with everyone taking responsibility for not adding to the problems of others.
