Country can’t afford spending, borrowing
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The major difference between the Democrats and Republicans is that the Democrats want to spend and tax and the Republicans want to spend and borrow. All you have to do to find out the outcome is look at the national debt. Our debt is increasing at the rate of $2 million a minute. This can't go on.
Guess who is crying the loudest about increasing taxes - yes, the rich. When George W. Bush was president, he cut taxes for the rich.
See where that got us:
$13-plus trillion in debt and counting.
I recently read that our government uncovered as many as 58,000 bank accounts in Swiss banks owned by Americans. The average Joe doesn't own any of these. The rich use loopholes in our tax system to avoid taxes.
The sad part of this horrible debt is there aren't any jobs for people to even pay any taxes. We have a great country, but our political system is flawed. I wonder how our politicians sleep at night. Look for extremely high inflation down the road. We have to pay as we go.
