This November Iowans in the 2nd congressional District have a very important choice to make in the race for our next representative in Congress. Sarah Corkery is running against Ashley Hinson and I will be choosing the candidate who supports women’s reproductive health care freedoms, Sarah Corkery! Sarah understands, as do 60% of Iowans, that government has no place in a woman’s decision if, when, or how they’ll have a child. Every woman has her own reason for whether they’ll continue with an unplanned pregnancy and frankly it’s no one else’s business! The extreme abortion bans spreading across Republican states, fully supported by Ashley Hinson, will in some cases cause death and infertility of women. Hinson claims to be pro-life yet she continually votes against programs that nurture children and prepare them for success, including public education and Head Start.
Iowa has the fewest OB-GYN specialists per capita in the nation. This results in women in rural areas having to travel long distances for prenatal care and delivery. My daughter-in-law is an OB-GYN in a “purple” state. She has shared with me that none of her fellow recent med school graduates will move to states like Iowa due to the Republican majorities held in those states or their lack of support from their representatives like Hinson.
To me the choice is clear, I will be voting for Sarah Corkery for Congress who respects women’s rights!
