Corbett wrong in city manager’s treatment

It has been interesting to watch how Mayor Ron Corbett campaigned against former City Manager Jim Prosser. It seems like Corbett was trying to become city manager rather than mayor. Does he truly understand the role of the city manager? It seems he is more interested in power than what the role of mayor should be in our new form of government.
Prosser was a true professional who understood there needs to be a process-oriented planning system geared not only to present needs of the city, but to what future needs are as well.
In 2008, he was voted the city manager of the year in Iowa. During the time he served our city, he never accepted a raise in pay. His managerial style displayed grace and professionalism, two qualities the mayor seems to lack.
It is easy to see why two successful city managers in our area declined to be considered as our city manager. One can only wonder what kind of puppet Mayor Corbett and his gang will hire as our next city manager. What else can one expect from an ambitious professional politician?
