Corbett supports taxes despite anti-tax talk

On Ron Corbett's Web site, and at most forums, he boasts that “he led the effort to pass the school bond issue that was used to make major improvements at Jefferson, Kennedy and Washington high schools.” In December 2000, Corbett did support the successful
$46 million bond referendum.
In taking credit for passage of the 2000 school bond vote, however, Corbett ignores his failed efforts a year earlier, when the effort he spearheaded to pass a 1 cent school sales tax was defeated by more 18 percent.
Despite Corbett's anti-tax rhetoric during this campaign, his record indicates he supports taxes. Since announcing his resignation from the Iowa House in February 1999, he has publicly supported every tax/bond vote on the ballot.
Corbett is just another example of politics as usual. We need a real leader for mayor, one who is tested and can be trusted. That is why Brian Fagan has my vote.
