Consider supporting local animal shelter

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, held Nov. 6-12, is sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States to recognize and celebrate the lifesaving services provided by animal shelters such as Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control and Cedar Valley Humane Society.
Animal shelters serve their communities in many ways: controlling stray animals, responding to calls for assistance from the public, helping families find a new animal companion, rescuing injured animals and returning lost animals to their owners. Most important, animal shelters provide an example of humane ethics and compassion for all living creatures.
Please consider supporting these organizations by volunteering your time, donating supplies, offering a monetary gift, and most importantly, adopting your next pet from among the great pets at Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control and Cedar Valley Humane Society. On behalf of the Humane Officer Training students at Kirkwood Community college.
