Consider pet’s breeding when choosing animal
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Since man has domesticated animals, he has bred them for different purposes or tasks. One should keep this in mind when obtaining an animal. For example, I would not get a Belgian horse if I wanted to use it to barrel race nor stock a dairy farm with Hereford cattle.
So it makes no sense to me to get a dog of a breed that has for generations been bred for protection of property, attack or fighting and use it for a family pet. It will take generations to breed that behavior out of them. No matter what kind of care they are given those traits will always be lurking in the background.
