Congress is filled with questionable spending
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Do we need a balanced budget? Most will say yes. What about the national debt? A balanced budget will not get us out of debt. To get a balanced budget, Congress is looking at cuts in social programs and the military along with some tax increases. A balanced budget does not leave room for unexpected expenses. A balanced budget is like living from payday to payday. If you have ever been in that situation, you know that is not the way to go.
Faced with an unexpected expense, would you cut your medical insurance or home security, or would you look at small cuts in other areas? For years, Tom Coburn, a senator from Oklahoma, has put out a list of questionable spending,
$6.5 billion this year, by our government. Check it out and remember this Congress gets a pay raise unless they vote against it.
