Confused about Family PAC's endorsement
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 6, 2010 12:38 am
I was a bit puzzled after reading in the May 26 Gazette that the Iowa Family Political Action Committee had endorsed George Eichhorn for the Republican nomination for Iowa secretary of state.
Among the reasons the Family PAC gave for its endorsement was that it supports those “who fear God and will honor him if elected.” The group also comments approvingly on Eichhorn's “desire to please God.”
Now I'm sure that Eichhorn is a fine fellow and leads an upstanding life. Where I'm puzzled is that according to the secretary of state's website, that department's job is “to provide access to information about businesses in Iowa,” to ensure election integrity and to help residents “to become civically engaged.”
Someone should point out to the Iowa Family PAC that Eichhorn is running for secretary of state, not pope.
