Compassion and Choices of Iowa needs help circulating petitions

We need more people like Rick Fromm (“If pets can, why not humans?”, Feb. 6) who will speak up for aid in dying for terminally ill people who want relief from suffering. He is right when he states the majority of citizens would like the right to end their life when “life as we know it is no longer possible.”
The Oregon law has been in effect for more than 10 years. It has strict rules. Only 50 to 100 people use the law each year, but when challenges arise, the citizens have voted to keep it.
Compassion and Choices of Iowa, a branch of the national organization, is asking Iowans to sign a petition to legislators requesting a law similar to Oregon's. Our legislators need to hear from us. Nothing is going to happen unless we demand it. Help is needed in getting the petitions circulated. Volunteers who would like to help can contact me at (319) 396-0229 or jiniel@juno.com.
