Community Letters leans entirely left

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
All four letters in Sunday’s Community Letters section appeared to have some left-leaning tendencies attached to them.
The first letter disputed former Governor Branstad’s assertion that most of the teachers in the Political Science department when he attended the U of I were Socialists. The distinguished writer is probably correct that few registered as Socialists. Many in the real world, however, see colleges as being a point of progressive, socialist, indoctrination as much as a place of education.
The second letter writer determined that abolishing birthright citizenship is unconstitutional. The 14th Amendment states that people “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are afforded birthright citizenship. The argument against birthright citizenship is that people here illegally have not subjected themselves to the jurisdiction of the United States. If they had, they would have come in through legal means of entry.
Letter writer number three suggests that Trump wants to remove democracy. This tired line spouted by liberals ignores the fact that Democrats just ran a person for President who was anointed as candidate by party officials without a single vote of the people. That’s democracy?
The final letter writer suggests that disabled veterans are given preferential treatment under DEI programs that Trump wants to eliminate. This is not correct. Affirmative action programs for veterans and disabled people are not impacted by Trump’s executive order to eliminate DEI programs.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide some corrections and a differing point of view.
