Comic strip calling Trump ‘evil’ is disappointing

I recently saw a political cartoon in The Gazette by Clay Bennett, and was extremely disappointed in The Gazette for running it. It showed a ballot titled “2024 Presidential Election (Choose One).” The choices were “OLD” or “EVIL”. The implication not stated explicitly is that Joe Biden is old and Donald Trump is evil.
Really, Mr. Bennett. Evil. Since when is it OK to label those who disagree with us politically as “evil?” The next time political violence hurts or kills somebody on either side, it is because the person or people perpetrating the violence have likely internalized your message that people who think differently are evil and worthy of scorn and violence. The Gazette and Mr. Bennett will have blood on their hands.
I’d like to offer some perspective to those suffering from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Get some help. The world did not end nor did democracy with 4 years of Trump as president. If we have 4 more years of Trump, democracy and the country will survive and may even thrive. Let’s stop the demonizing of others who think differently. That’s called hate. The Gazette editorial staff should be better than that.
