Comic offended with slang religious phrase

Call me old-fashioned but I was offended by the Fox Trot cartoon in Sunday's Gazette and its repeated use of a “slang” phrase that no doubt doesn't stand for “Old Musty Gym-sox”.
Just last week, our neighbor had a large, old maple tree removed. It started with just a rustling in the leaves as they infiltrated its branches. One by one, those branches fell. By day's end, the tree was gone.
Devout Muslims, Jewish believers and Christians should all view this “as a rustling in the leaves.” A rather public step in the destruction of something many hold sacred. No matter how common it has become, no man should take the name of anyone's God in vain.
