Cole isn’t only one put ‘in a box’

Althea Cole says shame on her readers for putting her in a box if they are surprised that she attended a drag show when she was in her 20s. Then she proceeds to do the exact same thing to the college students she saw outside the Iowa Memorial Union last week. It is unfortunate that The Gazette would publish her belittling others based on hair style and hair color. Calling people “blue haired weirdos?” And describing the protesters as “dye your hair to match a glow stick type.” Congrats on going lowest common denominator.

Newspaper editorials with different opinions are good. If Cole was made to feel unsafe by non-violent protesters, I empathize with her. Her hypocrisy about being placed in a box is louder than the experience she was trying to share in her column.
