Clinton is qualified to be president

To the editor:
As a precinct captain for Hillary Clinton in Iowa in 2008, I was motivated by the challenge.
A big advocate, I wanted to see her become the first woman behind the 'big desk.” She is more than qualified, now even more so as former secretary of state. Other countries have given this position to a woman, such as the Chancellor of Germany and Margaret Thatcher. Yet America still hesitates at the thought of a woman in charge. The greatest superpower of all and yet why this hesitation? Come on, America, what are you afraid of?
This time around, I would like to see a better organized Iowa campaign than I was involved in 2008. As her precinct captain I had only 10 days to organize my own 12 volunteers. I had no co-captain assigned for me, so spent most of the 10 days on the phone almost nonstop. Two home visits from two of her D.C. campaign officials, a guideline booklet of procedures, a short briefing and I did my homework.
After the Kirkwood College televised rally I was greeted by Hillary and Chelsea. Chelsea embraced my hand and thanked me for supporting her mother, but Hillary barely made eye contact. Hillary has a tremendous resume, intelligence and view for America, but needs some personal warmth in her delivery to project to the American people what she can bring to the White House. A more genuine, relaxed confidence will project her message.
