Clark hasn’t earned an Olympic team spot — yet

Through no fault of her own, Caitlin Clark has become the most mesmerizing figure in international sports. But she won't be competing internationally, at least not now. USA Basketball team executives left her off the 2024 women’s Olympic team. And on talent alone — coupled with the fact that she was unable to attend the team tryouts — she didn’t deserve to make it. At least, not in 2024.
Now with Indiana in the WNBA, she is far from being the best female player in the world. But she is the most famous, and prior to her rise to stardom the women’s game had struggled mightily forever to get a piece of the pie. Caitlin is selling ratings, tickets and merchandise. Perhaps one day her play on the court will reach a similar level and merit consideration for inclusion on the 2028 Olympic squad.
