City’s tragedy fading; we can’t afford to wait

It seems that the Federal Emergency Management Agency fields teams on 60- to 120-day contracts. The teams that came in right after the flood were much more prone to say “yes, we can provide that.” Now we hear a lot more refusals from FEMA to fund something.
There have been many national disasters since 2008. Ours is fast fading off the national radar. The City Council's plan may not be perfect, but it is concrete.
The opponents at the April 21 forum on Tuesday's sales tax referendum did not have an alternate plan. They want us to wait until someone thinks of something. I don't think we can wait that long. I am going to vote yes.
