City spending is out of control

Vote “no” on Tuesday. This City Council is spending at an alarming rate. It has no responsibility when it comes to indebting us all for many years to come.
The hotel and convention center are running at this time $25 million over earlier estimates. And we are paying $4 million for someone to oversee the project! We also have been told that the library will be $5 million more than estimates. But not to worry, we'll have a drive-up coffee shop to make up the difference.
What about the move of the west-side library to the vacated Target store. Although it will save a few dollars, what will the move and remodeling costs be? Has anyone asked why we need such a large library on the west side, when we're building a $50 million centrally located library? We also will be building a new rec center (would a closed school work?) and tearing down the public works building and spending $30 million there, before overruns.
Vote no! The 1 percent won't cover the costs and it will do little for flood control.
