City should purchase golf course

The Meadowridge Golf facility at the corner of Stoney Point Road SW and 16th Avenue SW is for sale. It includes a driving range, a par 3 course, and an 18-hole miniature golf course. A recreational facility such as this is needed in the SW portion of the city. I wish the City of Cedar Rapids would purchase it.
As a former employee at the facility, people of all ages, from surrounding communities, high school golf teams, and Special Olympics utilized the facility. It would be a shame to have a company bulldoze the space and cover with cement. I urge the City Council to give serious consideration to adding Meadowridge Golf to the city's recreational facilities.
