City should have Danceland instead
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I'd rather have a Danceland than a casino in town.
Everyone who spent money would have a good time. It was what we usually did on dates, too. It was upbeat and fun, and we met other people. We especially enjoyed jitterbugging, but also polkaed, waltzed or did the two-step.
How come we have to go out of town to dance? There must be new dances to learn, too, for young people. Then no one has to try to overcome a gambling addition or in extreme cases commit suicide because of losses.
The proposed location for the casino could attract people from miles around to dance or watch dancers and socialize, plus bring business into Cedar Rapids.
