City OKs project then has us help pay for it

The City Council did not let the residents of Cedar Rapids vote on the downtown hotel/convention complex. Evidently they did not feel the project would garner enough support to pass.
Now, according to The Gazette, chances are good taxpayers will be involved in helping to pay for this project. Why does it seem that all the money spent is to benefit the downtown area?
I go by the Tree of Five Seasons many times each week and have never noticed the dollar bills that must be growing on it.
Vote “no” to spending your money if you ever get a chance.
