City needs more vision
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Regarding Oct. 8 story: “City officials undecided on how to spend local-option sales tax”:
Great vision for the city. They can see how much they can get but then don't know what to do with it!
Leaders would have the plan first, then the numbers. So much to use it for and not a clue by the leaders.
Where do we want to be? A leader and progressive town for the future or just spend until it is gone, then tax again.
Next time they ask for and get a tax, we need written, detailed plans. But then they would have to hire at least three consultants.
Get the money to the flood victims, then start to rebuild the infrastructure of the city. Entice businesses to the area. Cut the fat from wages and benefits of city servants. County, too. Money saved will move us to the future.
Election time, we should choose people with a vision as to what this city can be, not people with a narrow vision as to what is always wrong.
This city has always been a leader and now we must gain that back or become a second-place entity.
