This year we have an exciting opportunity to review and elect candidates for the Cedar Rapids School Board. Education is the foundation of our communities-where we all get our beginnings. It is important that city and other government bodies work in tandem to build neighborhoods and communities. I have had the honor to know several of the candidates you have on your ballot this cycle. Cindy Garlock is one of the most generous, dedicated volunteers-it cannot be emphasized enough how much she cares about her community. As a former educator herself, she is dedicated to ensuring the same high quality education I myself benefitted from in our fair city's schools. You may know less about Dexter Merschbrock, but as a civil servant, he significantly helped me plan out routes to knock doors, and jumped right into supporting better representation for City Council in 2017. He is incredibly intelligent, and passionate about this community and deserves your consideration and vote. I have also had the fortune of being supported by Jen Neumann, who did not hesitate to encourage me as a young female during my run for council, to which I am incredibly grateful. She also has a tenured history of volunteerism that I've observed in Junior League of Cedar Rapids. Finally, I served on a board with Maurice Davis, and know firsthand his commitment to supporting the betterment of children, especially those who are often without representation. These candidates are all deserving of your consideration and vote.
