Church volunteers becoming great leaders
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 28, 2009 12:20 am
We have been greatly blessed by the volunteer work of members of the United Methodist Church, coordinated by the First United Methodist Church in Marion, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in helping us since the flood.
From the first day that we were able to get into our home and three rentals, there have been people willing to give of their time and effort to help us. These great people have helped us muck and strip our homes, install drywall, mud and paint.
I have been greatly impressed with the youths from the churches who have helped. It is heartwarming to see their enthusiasm at helping complete strangers. They are learning to serve their fellow man and will make great leaders for tomorrow. The adults who helped are teaching them to rebuild people's lives.
Thank God for such people.
