Christians can help those hurt by abortion

Last Saturday, the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade court decision, pro-lifers in Cedar Rapids braved the cold to march as a witness for life. More than 60 men, women and children walked to the First Avenue Planned Parenthood Clinic to grieve the loss of life and soul. We gathered on the public property nearby to pray for the doctors and countless men and women harmed by abortion.
After prayers, Jennifer Minney, regional coordinator of Silent No More, shared her story. She spoke of the pain caused in her life by her abortion, and the healing she found when the Lord brought her to the Catholic Church and to a Rachel's Vineyard retreat.
Minney's talk shows Christians and people of goodwill how we can help those seeking healing after an abortion. These hurting women and men need our spiritual and practical help. We can offer our prayers, fasting and practical support by spreading the word about Rachel's Vineyard Ministries and their retreats, such as the one to be held Feb. 25-27 in Cedar Falls.
We can offer to them the compassion and love of Christ.
For some who have suffered an abortion, the outcome is not pretty. We need to be there for them, and to help them pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.
