The season for lights upon trees and on rooftops is upon us. Do we stop and reflect to take in the TRUE reason for the season? His name is Jesus and He is the light of the world (John 1:9).
I didn’t learn the story of Jesus until my mid-40s. Growing up; decorations were pulled out, presents were wrapped, cookies were baked but the “why” wasn’t discussed. My mom would put out a small Nativity set, but I didn’t understand it. The focus was mostly on Santa and his reindeer. Sadly, that’s still the case in many households. So many don’t know the “why” of Dec. 25. People tend to do what society deems tradition and we don’t reflect on the word CHRIST in CHRISTmas. Jesus came into this world, born of the Virgin Mary, as the Savior of the world. It’s up to each of us to make that decision to choose Him as the LORD of our life.
If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your LORD and Savior and this letter was a conviction to your heart, say this prayer: “God, I know I am a sinner. I want to change. I believe Jesus died on the cross and has risen from the dead for me so I can spend eternity with you. My life is yours LORD, show me the way to go from here forward. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer from your heart, the angels are rejoicing (Luke 15:10)!
