Choose leaders we can be proud of

This week we marked Flag Day, when we honor the symbol of the United States of America, long recognized around the world as a symbol of freedom and democracy. Millions have fought, with many dying, to defend that flag, our country, and the principles it stands for.
That is why it’s so sad to see a segment of our population defending the actions of a deranged mob who used that flag to attack the Capitol police as they fought valiantly to defend the democratic process of selecting a president as called for by our Constitution. There can be no excuse for the mob’s behavior on that dark day in American history, nor is there any legitimate excuse for anyone to continue to alibi for them after clearly finding there was no fraud in the 2020 election. The election was not stolen as courts have ruled and those in charge of our elections have certified.
There can be no legitimate excuse for continuing to support any political candidate, or elected official who says otherwise. This is also true of the blind support of a candidate who has made a mockery of the rule of law which has been a hallmark of our country.
Let us disagree, even debate and argue, about public policy and the direction this great country should follow, but surely, we can come together on the need to select leaders we can all respect and be proud of, just as we take pride in our ‘Grand Old Flag’.
