Change in leadership may solve road issues
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 24, 2009 12:33 am
Year after year, we fill in the potholes in our streets because the city doesn't get it right the first time. Why? Maybe the managers and employees need a course in road maintenance. Maybe the city manager will outsource this problem.
Also: Ever try to go north or south, making frequent stops, waiting with the car idling, wasting gas and hoping the stoplight will change? In 1968, Mel Meyers was appointed our first city traffic engineer (and a good one at that) and he programmed all the lights. I don't think a change has been made in his programming since he left.
Maybe a change in the city council (and the city manager) can rectify these problems. Let's hope the electorate makes it happen this fall.
