Cellphone tower should not be placed on cemetery grounds
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am concerned over the possibility that U.S. Cellular may be allowed to construct a cellphone tower in the Czech National Cemetery, where my parents and my relatives have been buried.
Aesthetically, spiritually and for many other reasons, I feel this is an outrage. It is certainly unnecessary and a gross oversight that the Cemetery Board, the City Planning and Zoning Commission and especially U.S. Cellular need to acknowledge so that another location can be found and the sanctity and peaceful surroundings may continue to be carefully preserved.
Concerned citizens, and especially families who own grave plots in the cemetery, need to express their concern and/or attend today's 5:30 p.m. meeting being held at the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church.
