Celebration or requiem for democracy

As I watched the Capitol Fourth 2024 on IPT, I had tears come to my eyes. The patriotic music, the acknowledgment of a D-Day veteran, and a "Rosie the Riveter." I wondered, is this Fourth of July a celebration of over two hundred years of democracy. Or is it a requiem for over two hundred years of democracy.
