Cedar Memorial values veterans

I offer a note of gratitude to Cedar Memorial Cemetery for its treatment of deceased veterans. As a member of the Marine Corps League color guard, we are often called to perform as a firing detail at the funerals of those who have died. The VFW and the American Legion do the same.
Active or reserve members of the service branches are contacted by Cedar Memorial to fold and present the flag to the family. The Marine and Navy personnel come from Rock Island, Ill., Air Force from Omaha, Neb., and Army from Cedar Rapids. A U.S. flag and the flag of the service branch in which veteran was active mark the gravesite.
Cedar Memorial treats the deceased veteran with dignity and respect. I speak for the others in my unit when I say we are deeply honored to be able to perform this last service for those who have served their country faithfully and well.
