Cedar Lake has much to offer

Your help is needed to further the development of Cedar Lake as a recreational asset and its subsequent beautification and enhancement.
In the early 1980s, I was asked by then mayor Don Canney to serve on a special citizen's committee that developed and implemented a master plan for the Cedar Lake area.
Recently, I joined the Friends of Cedar Lake and have become more excited than ever about the possibilities for the lake.
Our focus is to secure flood protection which is necessary to prevent sedimentation from the Cedar River washing into the lake during a flood event. You can help by urging your City Council representative to vote for the preferred flood protection plan that protects Cedar Lake. This will open the door for the committee to secure funding that will help address the lake's sedimentation issues and ensure its long term vitality.
In addition, it will allow the committee to move forward on a much larger agenda that's intended to expand the recreational possibilities, which in my view are limitless.
It's time to make progress to develop this gem in the heart of our city that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
